Open Doors Day 2022

Open Doors Day will take place on Saturday 22 January 2022 at the Faculty of Science, MU. This year you can participate again from the comfort of your home, because it will take place online (MS Teams). We have prepared for you several lectures and demonstrations of activities in our laboratories, e.g. Plasma Chemistry Laboratory: The world of discharge physics transferred from the University to industry! Article in the journal Applied Materials Today

This year, our colleague Richard Krumpolec and the team of co-authors from the University of Pardubice and CEITEC BUT managed to publish an article in the journal Applied Materials Today with an impact factor of 10.041. The research deals with the preparation of nanolayers using ALD, specifically 2D MoTe2 nanosheets by atomic layer deposition: Excellent photo-electrocatalytic properties. Congratulations to an extraordinary publication!

Gold medal of the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University

On Friday, November 19, the Dean of the Faculty of Science awarded Assoc. Prof. Dušan Kováčik with the Gold medal of the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University. Associate Professor Kováčik has been working at the Department of Physical Electronics since 2011, where he is engaged in research and development of atmospheric sources of low-temperature plasma based on dielectric barrier discharges and their potential application.

MUNI Innovation Award 2021

Assoc. Prof. Tomáš Homola obtained the MUNI Innovation Award for the application of plasma treatments of nanostructured surfaces in the field of flexible and printed electronics and the use of plasma for the production of large printed solar cells, which resulted in the development of plasma technology and its successful implementation in the production line for flexible perovskite solar cells in a foreign company Saule Technologies. Congratulations!

8th Plasma Science & Entrepreneurship Workshop

In recent days, several of our colleagues have participated in the 8th Plasma Science & Entrepreneurship Workshop in Prague, where presented the results of their research in the form of lectures or posters. Professor Černák gave an invited lecture on the topic Recent advances in the application of plasma in textile finishing. The program is available here.

Finalist of TRANSFERA TECHNOLOGY DAY 2021

The team consisting of Dr. Richard Krumpolec and Mgr. František Zelenák was nominated by the Technology Transfer Office of Masaryk University (CTT MU) to participate in the Transfera Technology Day 2021 competition and made it to the finals! Their research is focused on Plasma-reduced graphene oxide materials, which are often referred to as the materials of the future. Congratulations and we wish you much success in further research on graphene.

Workshop in Broumov, October 11-14, 2021

The workshop in Broumov was a success, 20 lectures with various topics were given and there was still some free time left to get to know the Broumov region. New PhD students had the opportunity to meet with other participants and during the lectures to gain knowledge that they will use in further research. We are glad that due to the situation the workshop could take place with in-person participation. An electronic version of the Book of abstracts is available on the Munispace portal.

Visit from the Nanize company

At the beginning of October, Dr. Kingsley Iwu from Nanize (Narvik, Norway) visited our laboratory. We have been cooperating with the Nanize company since 2020 within the contract research, which concerns the preparation of durable anti-fouling and anti-soiling surfaces. The aim of this research is to develop layers that can be used, for example, as anti-graffiti coatings.
