Brno Ph.D. Talent 2023

Doctoral student František Zelenák successfully defended the project as a part of the Brno Ph.D. Talent scholarship competition. The project deals with graphene with the aim of bringing innovation in its production and functionalization that it can be applied in industry. Congratulations and we wish him much success in his scientific work!

Visit from Joanneum Research

Last week, we had a visit from the Austrian research organization Joanneum Research, with whom we cooperate in the mobility project Superhydrophobic surfaces created by atmospheric plasma. The principal investigator from MU is Assoc. Prof. Tomáš Homola and his doctoral students, Mgr. Július Vida and Mgr. František Zažímal, are also involved in it.

PhD Defense

Our colleague, Michal Pazderka, successfully defended his dissertation at the Institute of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics on Tuesday 7.3.2023. This only proves his wide scope from theoretical calculations, through experimental research in plasma physics to his manual skills, which he uses in the construction of apparatus.

Looking back on the year 2021

The year 2022 was intense and flew by very quickly. After two years, we were finally able to attend international conferences in person. We were also successful in acquiring new projects, both basic research and applied research. And not only that, you can find the group's other activities in the 2022 events overview.

Improving the mechanical properties of laminated glass

The Plasionglas project aimed to develop plasma technology to streamline the production process and improve the mechanical properties of quality safety glass laminated with SentryGlas ionoplastic film for use in the construction industry. Our colleagues worked on this project from 4/2021 to 12/2022 within the TREND program.

Exhibition of SEM images

We would like to invite you to the exhibition of the CEPLANT centre dealing with scanning electron microscope (SEM) research. Members of our group also participated in the preparation. Come and have a look at exciting SEM photos divided thematically into 14 panels. The exhibition takes place until the end of April 2023 in the Stairway gallery of building 1 (Dean's office SCI MUNI) on Kotlářská 2.

Successful applicant of MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships grant (Horizon Europe)

Dr. Oleksandr Galmiz succeeded in the call for MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships with the project "A step towards new Plasma processing Technology for Medical purposes". He will work on this project for the next two years at the Comenius University in Bratislava. Congratulations!
