Sandra Ďurčányová on Erasmus stay at MUNI

Sandra Ďurčányová is a doctoral student from the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, Comenius University. She is on a research stay at DPPT and CEPLANT center of SCI MUNI with the support of the National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic. In Brno, she works with dr. Monika Stupavská. In her dissertation thesis, she researches plasma polymerization at atmospheric pressure. Using plasma, she deposits thin functional films made of hexamethyldisiloxane and investigates their properties.

Exploring the potential of plasma-liquid interactions: Leila Zahedi and Pedram Ghourchi Beigi Erasmus+ stay

Leila Zahedi and Pedram Ghourchi Beigi stayed at the University of Ghent for their Erasmus+ traineeship for four months. They investigated the potential of plasma-liquid interaction for practical applications within the scope of their respective Ph.D. topics.

František Zelenák on Erasmus stay at Slovenia

Our PhD student, František Zelenák, is now on Erasmus+ at the Jozef Stefan Institute in Slovenia, where he is working on the preparation of graphene materials by RF plasma where the carbon is deposited from propane. He tests the prepared samples in supercapacitors. In preparation he optimizes the deposition parameters to prepare supercapacitors with the best properties. As part of his dissertation research in Brno, František also focuses on graphene materials, under the supervision of dr. Richard Krumpolec.

Richard Krumpolec hosted Kingsley Iwu from Nanize

In mid-February 2025, Dr. Richard Krumpolec and Pedram Ghourchi Beigi hosted Kingsley Iwu, the CTO of Nanize AS. New insights into plasma application in the PFAS-free industry were discussed at the beginning of the sixth year of this collaboration with this Norwegian company.

Visit of Fraunhofer IAP

Jakub Kelar with Přemysl Štastný from CEITEC - Central European Institute of Technology visited Sebastian Spange and his colleagues from Fraunhofer IKTS. They plan to prepare a joint project developing ceramic materials for dielectric barrier discharges.

We participated at SAPP XXV (25th Symposium on Application of Plasma Processes and 14th EU-Japan Joint Symposium on Plasma Processing), held in Štrbské Pleso in Slovakia in the begging of February 2025.

Areej Fatima is new Brno Ph.D. Talent

From physics at Masaryk University, Areej Fatima was successful in Plasma Physics. Areej works under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Tomáš Homola at the Plasma Nanotechnologies and Bioapplications research group. In her project, she will focus on developing a g-C3N4-based fabric for photocatalysis in wastewater treatment.
