PhD Defense

Our colleague, Július Vida, successfully defended his dissertation at the Department of Plasma Physics and Technology on Tuesday 23.1.2024. In his dissertation he focused on applications of large-area plasma of the DCSBD discharge for cleaning of transparent conductive substrates, sintering of printed nanoparticles, and modification of electronic properties of treated materials. Congratulations!

Workshop ak-adp in Bamberg

"Adhesion problems?! - Not with us!" that was the name of the workshop organized by ak-adp (user group atmospheric pressure plasma) in Bamberg on 15. - 16. November 2023. We participated in this event with three lectures focused on the adhesion improvement of polymers (PTFE, Ionoplast), polymer packaging materials for food industry and glass samples before the application of layers.

Newly developed decontamination chamber

Colleagues from our research group have developed a new prototype of a decontamination chamber. Dr. Zlata Kelar Tučeková and her team worked on this technology for two years. The Roplass s.r.o., a spin-off company of Masaryk University, and scientists from the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine MU participated on the research.

3rd PNB Workshop

After two years, our research group and CEPLANT centre organized the traditional PNB workshop, this time with international participation. The event took place on October 9-12, 2023 in Hustopeče and was attended by 30 participants. In addition to dozens of interesting lectures, there was also time for numerous discussions, exchange of contacts and a trip to nearby Mikulov.

Plasma CO2 conversion experiments at Max Planck

A two-member scientific team consisting of Dr. Jakub Kelar and Dr. Michal Pazderka went to the German Max Planck Institute, located near Munich, for cooperation. Will a dielectric barrier discharge with a unique ceramic barrier be suitable for practical CO₂ conversion?

The Department of Physical Electronics changes its name

In the first half of 2023, we managed to publish 5 research articles in Q1 quartile impact journals. They covered topics ranging from the preparation of nanofibers, through nanocrystalline composites, layers of hydrogels, tubular films used in the food industry to glass cleaning using plasma. Some of them were published in open access mode, so they are accessible to the general public.

Plasma as a tool to improve the quality of UV digital printing

Digital printing is now a widely available technology. However, the printed materials' size and variety still present a challenge for printers. Not all glass, polymer and Dibond boards, canvases, etc., are suitable for printing. However, atmospheric plasma treatments can also cope with the adhesion of these different materials for UV digital printing.
