Gold medal of the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University
On Friday, November 19, the Dean of the Faculty of Science awarded Assoc. Prof. Dušan Kováčik with the Gold medal of the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University. Associate Professor Kováčik has been working at the Department of Physical Electronics since 2011, where he is engaged in research and development of atmospheric sources of low-temperature plasma based on dielectric barrier discharges and their potential application. Within the CEPLANT center, he is responsible, among other things, for cooperation with industrial partners and research institutions with the aim of transferring advanced plasma technologies into practice. In 2016–2019, he coordinated the research activities of two major international projects under the EUREKA / EUROSTARS2 program and the Operational Program Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness. In 2018, he received his habilitation at our faculty. He is the head of the Plasma Nanotechnologies and Bioapplications research group and the deputy director of the CEPLANT center for applied research.

A weeklong testing of plasma treatment in company Nano Medical
Researchers from the Plasma Nanotechnologies and Bioapplicatons research group, Dr. Jakub Kelar and Dr. Oleksandr Galmiz, spent an experimental week at Nano Medical in Liberec. As part of the new OP TAK project, they focused on testing in-line plasma surface modification of substrate materials to enhance the adhesion of nanofibers produced by electrospinning.
